Windows XP Home Update Question

I just purchased Windows XP Home Update. I know that it says on the box that
it checks your hard drive/CD to make sure you have a licensed version of
either Win 98 or ME. I had a licenced version of Windows ME on my computer
but erased my hard drive a while ago, but I still have the legal license that
has been checked by Microsoft. Can I still install Windows XP from the
upgrade cd?

Thanks
Chris

Like the box says it checks your HD or CD for a copy......do you have a
copy...an actual copy not just the license???
Do you have a friend who has a copy?

If you install the upgrade edition onto an empty hard drive then you
will be required to insert the actual installation CD from your
previous version of Windows at one point early in the installation
process.

Good luck
