I have a BIG problem here. I have Windows XP home on my pc. My daughter took
the computer to college where the computer dept. also installed Windows XP
Professional. Now I have almost no disk space left and I cannot figure out
how to get the Professional off. The Recovery CD that came with the pc (that
I had used before and it worked perfectly) does not work. I was told this is
because the Professional overides the Home. PLEASE, any help regarding how to
fix this situation would be so greatly appreciated. The local PC repair shop
told me it would be at least $70 to fix.

David, I understand that but I have NO idea how to go about doing that.

You haven't provided enough information. Are Pro and Home both on the
hard drive? Can you boot to either OS?

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Yes, both are on the hard drive and yes, I can access both. When I turn the
computer on it gives me the choice of which I want to use. I do not have the
XP CD as it was preloaded software. However, I recently bought my daughter a
laptop and it has the XP CD with it. So if I can't just get the Professional
off and use the exisitng XP - is there a way that I can "wipe" it all out and
reload it using that CD??
