Windows XP Home Edition

I recently purchased Windows XP Home Editon and the box
states "for PCs without windows, or PCs with Windows 95 or
earlier versions." I have Windows 98 SE. Is there any
issue with loading this software since I have Windows 98
SE which I believe is a later version than Windows 95?

Not at all. It seems you have purchased a retail version of XP which can
be used to either upgrade or install clean. Makes no difference.

It just means you have paid more than you need. That is a 'Full'
version that would install on any machine (and *will* do an upgrade of
Win98). But what you need is the cheaper 'Upgrade' version , that
checks that you have Win98/Me in support of your getting the discount.
End result is the same. So if you can take it back and change it for an
Upgrade one and get a refund I would do so

What you apparently have is the XP Home Full Version install CD as
opposed to an upgrade version which is cheaper to buy and would have
upgraded Windows 98 to XP Home if I am not mistaken..

If you are suggesting that a Full version will not do an upgrade,
that's *not* correct. Both the Full and Upgrade versions will do
upgrades. Only the OEM version will not.
