Windows XP home edition upgrade install problem

Going from Win 98 to Win XP Home Edition upgrade on new Seagate 80GB drive.
Meet all hdw config. requirements (I know this system will run XP as I
already had installed an OEM version (good for only 30 days) to ensure it
worked before purchasing the upgrade Win XP version - I
reformatted/partiitioned drive to wipe it clean using Seagate utilities
before starting the official upgrade install). This system also has Award
4.51 bios (limits drive size to 33GB) which the Seagate Drive Overlay
corrects so that it will pass POST and still allow full capacity (80GB)
access. Installl goes fine up until it auto-restarts to continue with the
setup. After this, system ask for either boot floppy or CD, but won't seem
to boot from C drive. Just hangs at this point....... I'm at a loss for
what to try next? Help!!!!!!!

PS. I haven't tried going back and reinstalling Win 98 (on the newly
formatted disk) before the Win XP upgrade, but Win XP upgrade doesn't seem to
care (it only asks for the Win 98 CD one time early in the install process to
confirm it's a legitimate upgrade).

Do you have the cdrom drive set as first boot device in Bios?

Now I do and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Sometimes using third party disk utilities to 'prepare' a hd can cause
problems.
Use the win cd to partition/format

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up fixing it myself by partitioning in
FAT32 instead of NTFS. THis allowed the install to complete. I'm guessing
the combo of NTFS and Award BIOS 4.51 + Seagate Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO)
{necessary for full 80GB access} was problematic. All's well that ends well!
I don't know if there is a big performance tradeoff, but FAT32 seems to work
fine with Windows XP.
