format with xp home upgrade

Ok I have win 98 2nd edition, and the new installation of
xp home upgrade NTFS. I want to format my hard drive and
only use the xp home upgrade, I don't have the 98 win
setup disk any more, so I need to know if I can do this
with out the 98 and only run the xp home upgrade?

You need a previous version of an OS to verify the upgrade installation. If
you format the drive and you don't have the 98 CD, when it gets to the point
when you need to verify the previous OS, you won't be able to go any
further.

Greetings --

You have to have the Win98 CD in order to install the WinXP
Upgrade. No way around it.
