The question I have is a simple one. Is it possible to reinstall an "Upgrade
Win XP Home" without having to go back to install the original Win 98 first.

Hi

A 'Repair' install yes, but for a 'Clean' install you will need to have the
Win 98 CD handy as proof for the 'upgrade'.

Having the CD will suffice.
You will need to insert the CD for a few minutes when the Windows XP
installation requests.
You do not need to install Windows 98.
