Hey Friends!

I am using windows XP Pro. And now I have to format my
hard disk due to some problems, the thing is when I will
reinstall windows XP Pro it will ask for activation of
Windows, and I am thinking that may be it will not accept
the same CD Key isn't? If I will face this problem then
what is the solution, without calling to Microsoft
regarding activation. Please give me your informative
ideas and opinions.

Thank you,
Saine

If this is just a simple reinstallation, your key should work. It stays the
same. If it did not work, you could phone MS for a new one, but your old key
should work, if it is a valid key.

Hi

If you use the key that is either on the packaging or on your PC for the XP CD - you shouldn't have any problems re-activating over the Internet.

If you are going to perform a 'Repair Install':

"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"

there shouldn't be any need to re-activate.

If, on the hand, you are going to perform a 'clean' install

"Clean Install Windows XP"

you will need to re-activate XP.

Why are you thinking that? If it accepted it before, it will
accept it now.

Although you shouldn't have to call Microsoft, there's no reason
to be afraid of needing to do so if you do need to call them.
Activation by telephone is quick and easy, and doesn't represent
a problem.
