help to play these files

Saine

Hey friends I need your help as ever.
I have some music files (extension *.WMA) I am using
windows 2000 Professional, the problem is whenever I try
to play these files, it will open the Internet Explorer,
and I cannot play these files, but the same music files
are working very well in Windows XP. I can play these
files without any error. But in Win 2K Pro., and in Win
Me. I have the problem.
I tried to play this music by using Windows Media Player,
Mp3 Player very 5 and Real Player, but I couldn't play.

Any help any idea????

Thanks and regards,

Saine

Sounds like the Media Player in ME and W2K lack the proper support and codecs
forr WMA. And you can convert WMA to MP3 by using one of seveeral utilities.

If that doesn't do it.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Folder Options |

Opens with??? | If not WMP | Click the Change button |

Saine;

Are you using WMP 6.4??? 7.1???

Windows Media Audio (.wma)
Versions of Windows Media Player that support this file type:
Windows Media Player 7
Windows Media Player for Windows XP
Windows Media Player 9 Series
Windows Media Audio (.wma) files are Advanced Systems Format (.asf) files
that include audio that
is compressed with the Windows Media Audio (WMA) codec. By using a separate
extension, users
can install multiple players on their computer and associate certain players
with the .wma extension
for playback of audio-only sources.

=========================
Q: How do I get WMP6 and earlier to play back WMV and the other new ASF file
types?
A: The Codec download page is what you want. This is the codec redist for
WMP (or offline computers or Intranets or CD-ROM distribution or etc.)
updated with the new codecs ( WMV7, WMV8, WMV9, WMA8, WMA9 Standard ).
