Windows XP frozen at start up while bars are scrolling accross!!

Has anyone been able to find a fix for this. I have tried everything that is
recommended on newsgroups. I'm trying to save some of my pics that are on
the drive!!!! please help!!

install XP to a new folder (and turn on firewall before going online) run setup CD for XP, "New Instillation" from drop box) Put in
Key, and choose the "Advanced Options" button to choose the folder, (Use "Recovery" disk,if PreInstalled version)
