Windows XP Fax Console Won't Send

J

Joyce Marshall

I am having trouble sending faxes. It attempts to send,
but after a minute I receive one of the following error
messages on the Fax Monitor: "The line is busy", The
attempt to send the fax failed", or "An error occurred
while receiving the fax". I have dialed the fax number
directly, and it receives just fine. I also checked my
fax and it is complete with the cover page and attached
document. What could be my problem?

Please help!

PS: What is the correct number format for sending long-
distance faxes: 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX ????

Thank you so much!

What kind of modem do you have? I had this problem with certain fax
destinations before I tossed out the 4 year old "winmodem" I was using.
Avoid winmodems (aka "softmodem" or "Windows Modems") in Windows XP.
