windows XP failure to load

I have Win XP Pro installed on one disc and Win Me on
another, and they have been working well for a year. Just
today I was switching back to XP Pro after correcting the
time on my second disc (Me) i. e. nothing complex. When I
rebooted in XP Pro it started to boot and then went to a
blank (not blue and no error message) screen. Attempting
to restore from the CD was unsuccessful. Any suggestions?
 
Have you tried getting the the system boot menu by pressing F8? Just a thought...
