I am experiencing problems accessing desk top. I am being offered to open
Windows in several modes including safe mode and the last successful attempt.
Each time I try any of the options the system seems to re-boot itself and go
back to the same screen offering safe mode etc. There was no problem closing
down the PC after the last time I used it and there have been no power cuts
as far as I am aware.

Can anyone help?

Start in the safe mode first, see if files will open.
Save any work at this time to a CD, it should work.
If not, then save to an external hard drive, storage.
When you re-boot, push F8 several times, go to the
safe mode again and after the system stabilizes, re-start
the computer and let it go thru the processes.
This has worked for me and others. Good Luck!

Thanks for your advice guys but I fear it was all in vain. A friend has
taken a look at my PC and it looks like my hard drive has bit the dust. I
was able to plug in another hard drive I had kept from a PC from the dark
ages and it loaded fine. I am now stuck with a the decision to either spend
money on this PC or buy a new one.

Thanks again. Brian
