windows xp explorer not woking

When I boot my computer everything seems fine. But when
I try to access My Computer, My Documents, Control Panel
etc through either the desktop or the start menu there is
no response. The task manager says at this point that
explorer.exe is not responding. I can still open
applications such as word and games so I am completely
confused why I can't get to the other applications.
Without being able to open control panel or my computer I
can't do much of anything! Please Help!

Check for updates,and run your antivirus now,if you dont

have an updated antivirus goto this site and get a free
one for a year
