Explorer freeze

I am having problems with Explorer. The following appears: Explorer.exe
application error. The instruction at 0x77f66e2f referenced memory at
0x77f66e2f. The memory could not be written. I can't find any info on this
error. I can work for a while, then when I try to open a file on my desktop,
my computer freezes. I have to manually turn it off, wait, then turn it back
on.

One (or more) of the applications or drivers on your computer is
conflicting with Windows Explorer. Did you make any recent hardware or
software changes?

We'll need a lot more details to suggest a solution, otherwise you can
try generic troubleshooting. Event Viewer should provide more details.

I recently tried to load Family CyberAlert which I thought didn't load
properly. But, I see it pop it sometimes. My problem did start when I did
this but when I went to Control Panel to remove the program, it's not there.
I can't find it anywhere so I'm not sure how to remove it.

The advice typically given in your situation is to reinstall the
program. Apparently, your program did not install correctly.

Some tips for installing software:

1- Close all open programs before installing. (Make sure the
Applications tab in Task Manager is empty.)

2- Pause or close all your security software /with the exception of your
firewall/ before you install a program.

3- Before installing software, look for installation instructions from
the author's website and review any Release Notes or Readme files for
advice.

4- Be certain that the software you want to install is compatible with
existing software on your computer.

5- You may want to set a Restore Point (or image your system partition)
before installing.

6- Always chose a 'Custom' installation, if offered, so you have a
measure of control over what is installed.

7- Only install from the author's website or CD - that's your assurance
of getting the genuine article.

8- Don't install anything unless you are 101% certain it is legitimate
and free of malware!

Have you used Windows Explorer to search for the programme folder? Are
there any Readme.txt file or an uninstall file?

I imagine they could make things difficult or child proof <G>.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is selected and then
select View, Choose Details and check before Name, Type, Total Size, and
Free Space.
