Windows XP Errors

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I am having two error messages that I can't figure out:

1. The system is shutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off.(not sure of this part, but it's the
gist of it) Shutdown initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Then: Windows must restart because the remote procedure
call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly. You have 60
seconds to close all programs.

That's the first.

2. Generic Host process for WIN32 Services has encountered
a problem and needs to close.

I have sent the error report to Microsoft on that one, but
I don't think they send you anything back to help. so
anyone know what these are and how I might fix them?
