I have 1200 Windows XP Professional computers that are running currently in
Windows NT domain. We are migrating this Windows NT domain to Windows 2000
Active Directory domain. This Windows XP professional computers do not
currently run WINS and they do not currently run DNS. In short, there is
really no WINS or DNS on the Windows NT domain. I am trying to migrate users
and computers so that I can maintain the user profiles on the Windows XP
computer. Is there a way to automate adding a DNS server IP address to the
Windows XP computer without using remote desktop and without physically
touching each of these 1200 workstations. (Bearing in mind that there is not
DHCP installed on the Windows NT domain network and the policy prohibits
installing or running DHCP on the network.) So the Windows XP computers are
statically configured with no WINS and No DNS but LMHost.
Does anyone know a way, a script, or any tools that can be used to add DNS
server IP address to these 1200 Windows XP computers without physically
touching them and without using Remote Desktop?
