Windows XP displays wrong network connection speed

I have a DSL connection of 256kbps, but Windows says the connection speed is
12.0 Mbps! Is there any possibility to get it corrected?

That's the maximum rated speed of the electrical connection between
your computer and the DSL modem. It has nothing to do with how fast
your DSL modem gets data from the Internet, and there's no way for
Windows to automatically determine that speed.

To find the actual speed of your Internet connection, go to a speed
test site, such as:
