Different Internet connection speeds across network

Hi
My configuration is:
WInXP Home SP2 (3.4 Ghz HT...) connected to Netgear wireless router MR 814
via cable (and probably is the server - I did not want to make a server in
the first place....), and WinXP PRO (600 Mhz Celeron - old thing) connected
to same router through wireless Netgear 101 wireless adapter.
My connection SBC YAHOO DSL actual speed about 2,5 Mbps/430 Kbps.
My problem:
When I check DSL speed from XP home PC it is the same as above, however, XP
PRO download speed is much lower 1,5 -1,6 Mbps, but upload is the same.
History:
At first, when I had old PC (600 Celeron) with WinME, I installed Netgear
there, then I got new PC XP Home from Dell (both are Dell by the way), I
connected to the router automatically (not instaling anything). Later, I
changed old PC OS to WinXP PRO (as more stable vs WinME), and it was
connected to the router automatically as well (again without any installation
from Netgear). Actually I did not check (or don't remember doing so) my DSL
speeds on both PC in the same time (when old PC had WInME and NEtgear
installed there), but old PC speeds were close to 2.5 Mbps down.
My network is working fine in both directions, thanks to the help in this
forum, and I also connected both PC with DIrect Connect cable USB 2.0 for
exchanging large files (huge speed actually).
So, could I have the same download speeds on both PC (not at the same time,
I know), and what need to be done for this, or else?
Thanks for any help
Gary

Thanks Jack for reply, but the thing is that through one connection download
speed is o.k, but another one is slow. Both PC connect through the same
router, and the most important thing is that with winME on old PC I had the
advertized speed, but after putting WINXP PRO speed went down by
approximately 40 to 50 %. Also, I tried to optimize through DSL reports.com
site - and nothing good was happened in the past.
I think that maybe I need to reinstal Netgear on the old PC, but I am not
sure what may happened.
Any other ideas people?
thanks
GAry
