Windows XP Desktop "critical_warning" problem

HI Everyone, Just recently I have expereinced my wallpaper being replaced by
a "critical_warning" error message and it substituted my picture for a silver
solid color screen. When I go into control panel/display/backgrounds all my
picture files, browse and position buttons are grayed out.

Interesting is that when I shut down my system the wallpaper picture shows
back up during that process.

has one heard of this and if so any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me. I can no longer choose a background. The
"critical_warning" file is a background option, but cannot be selected either.

a simple fix is to use the search file tool and type in critical_warning
and you will get the file. simply delete it and walla! just also use the live
scan after and then youre good to go
