Hi,

I want my computer to boot up and log in to my user profile without having
to enter a password. I remember this could be achieved with tweakui but
Microsoft tell mew that that Powertoys XP will only work with US settings. I
have also found tweakui.exe on the Microsoft site but after downloading it -
it tells me that it is not a valid win32 application. Any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks Chris

Start, run, type in: control userpasswords2, hit enter.

Uncheck: users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Xp will then ask you to enter the user and password you want to auto-logon
to.

Goto Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2"
Then under the users tab, uncheck Users must enter a username/pass to use
this computer"
Then press ok and Enter your username/password

Or

Alternatively, you can use TweakUI for Windows XP to do this.
See the Logon/Auto-Logon Section

Use the "Control Userpasswords2" method.

As for the TweakUI error, it occurs if you are using XP (without SP1) and
downloaded TweakUI for XP SP1 version.

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Uncheck Users must enter
a username and password. Click Apply. Enter the username to use, and
password if any that's assigned to that account.

It ought to work on an edition as sold in the UK. BUt you may have the
wrong download. If you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP!, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP
