Windows XP & 98.

I have 40Gb H/D partitioned for dual boot with XP in 35Gb
and 98 in 5Gb. I have downloaded some updates for Win98
and now it will not boot up. I can live without Win 98
but I get conflicting advise; some say that if I just
wipe the 5Gb clean (by formatting it) my XP will be OK
but some say that if I do that my XP will be affected in
some way (possibly not being able to access it).

Any thoughts on that, anybody?

You should be able to access the 5 GB partition in XP as it is - are you
not able to do that currently?
How do you dual boot - do you have a boot manager program that hides the
5GB partition when you boot into XP? If so, you may have to change the
settings so that the 5GB partiton is available in XP.

I can access 5Gb thru "My Computer" in XP, and can see
what is on it...no problem.
The dual boot facility is part of XP, no other "foreign"
programs are required.
I just want to "revitalize my Win98 in %Gb or wipe the
5Gb clean but can I do the latter without jeopardizing my
XT in 35Gb.

Many Thanks anyway
