After some search engine attached it's self to my pc and I removed it my
active window times out. I open IE go to favorites and while seaching for
something in a sub category IE becomes an inactive window which causes the
favorites menu to go away. Or when opening another window in IE or word or
excel they always time out?

The technical term is that the "window loses the input focus"...
