Windows Vista Mail Spell Check Not Working Tip

The web page he gave you should work. However, it could mention
that when you're about to choose a language from the list, click on the
triangle first to display the list.

Windows Mail comes with the default language for spelling checks
partly set to English, but not enough to work. That's why you need
this fix.

That web site contains a suitable set of instructions. Follow them even
if it looks like English is already selected, since Windows Mail comes
with the language for spelling checks only partly set to English - enough
to show English as selected, but not enough to work.

Are you having problems reaching that web site?

Don't use that link below because it has an undesirable popup.
As far as I'm concerned, sites that use popups should be banned from the
Internet!
The other responders gave you clean links.

I don't understand , am I supposed to go to that site to figure out what I
need to do? I'm computer illiterate and still have a lot to learn........

It is best to take advice only from the regular responders here.

To fix the spell check issue:
1. Click on Tools on the menu bar in the main Windows Mail window,
not the message compose window.
2. Click Options. If you don't see Options, you are in the wrong window.
3. Click on the Spelling tab.
4. Choose a language other than English. Click Apply.
5. Change the language selection back to English. Click OK.
You're done.

Thanks tons Gary! I've only been running Vista for a few months and could
never remember to search for a solution until I was actually using Spell
Check. Your solutin worked great!

Thanks!!! I rely on spell check too much not to have it available. I have
just gotten Vista, taking a little getting used to, but I do like it!!

Just wanted to say thanks for actually posting your very easy fix

Thanks so much! I was just looking for the newest tip because all the fixes
seemed to be the same (lengthy link) and I happened to read your very quick
fix for the spell check - In windows mail - tools menu - options - spelling -
simply re-choose "English" and its fixed! Thank you so much. I've never even
used a "community discussion group" or a "thread" or whatever it is and you
guys made it so easy for me.

Just choosing "English" sometimes doesn't work, which is why we
recommend a slightly more elaborate fix, which has a higher success rate.

I am a user, not a Systems Pgm, Director of Systems Pgm, Not a CEO at MS. I
only have 35 years experience in computing but zero with thinking
demonstrated or implemented. I ask another c0employee about his experience.
He replied I changed rather than struggle. Maybe? I'll see!
