Windows Vista Email will not send nor receive. First no pics, now nothing.

My last computer was Windows 2000 - I missed XP altogether. I feel like a
cave dweller. The new Windows Vista is so foreign to me.

At first things were fine - sending and receiving for about a month, then it
suddenly stopped letting me send pictures. About a week later it stopped
altogether. The Windows Vista Email will not send nor receive. Not even
junk-mail came in.

I got rid of Norton Antivirus, but - still no improvement.

I sent test messages to myself and they won't even leave the Outbox.

These messages come up every single time I click the SEND-RECEIVE:

"Subject 'What', Account: 'pop.erols.com', Server: 'smtp.erols.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D"

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.erols.com', Server:
'pop.erols.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Can anyone help me with this, or should I go back to my cave?

Erols was bought out by RCN a long time ago.
Are you sure you shouldn't be using the RCN mail settings?

Please give us the complete error message. From the little you did tell us,
Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.
