Windows Update

When I go to the 'MS Windows Update' site I run the 'Scan
for updates' option and receive an indication that there
is one 'Windows XP(1)' update that I can pick and
install. However, when I select this option the
programme just jumps back to the opening 'Scan for
Updates' window. I get into the same loop if I
select'Other Options' - 'View installation history' or
Personalize Windows Update. Can anyone help??
