windows update

every time for the last week of october, i get the
message "windows update unavailable". in control panel the
options are grey and can't be altered. i use win xp and
checked for virusses with norton. what is wrong? thanks

I had the same problem. your not going to like this but,
try disabling Your antivirus and Firewall if you have one
and try again. Also it could be the service file "Cant
remember Name" you installed when you first used Win
Update. You know, The one that asks you if you want to
trust file from microsoft. Or updated to the new version
4.0 I think.
