Windows Update not working

When I receive notification that a Windows update is
ready for download, ie SP2, and click on download nothing
happens and the icon disappears from the systray. What is
causing this and how can I fix it?

I had this problem, I checked everything on the start up

menu and windows updates downloaded. regards
