When I try and scan for updates it hangs at 0%. No matter how long I wait it
never progresses past 0%.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks.

HELLO POWERUSER,

When you press Scan for updates in Windows Update, you
receive Windows Update is looking for available updates...
0% complete and then the process hangs.

This behavior can be the result of having NetSonic
Internet accelerator installed.

Workaround 1
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Press Internet Options on the Tools menu.

3. Select the Connections tab.

4. Press the LAN Settings button.

5. Clear the Automatically detect settings box.

6. Press OK and OK.

Workaround 2
1. Right-click the NetSonic icon on the Windows taskbar
and press Close.
2. Access Windows Update.

Workaround 3
1. Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs.
2. Select NetSonic and press Change/Remove.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the
application.

HOPE THIS RESOLVES YOUR ISSUE.
BYE.

Although I don't have NETSONIC installed, I tried your 1st workaround...no
luck
