Windows update 2003XP

I have re-installed a version of Windows XP Home Edition bought in August
2003. I Use HP1210 allin one and a modem for Internet.
I have tried to download all the files suggested but when I download some
files Windows refuses to start again
It says "error with some of the drivers."
I start , I restore ths system as before. Windows suggests to download the
files again and so and so 4 times
What can I do ?
Refuse dowloades files ?
