You might want to post your question to the windows update newsgroup:

I had this same problem & found this on another newsgroup. Worked for me

Seems I had inadvertently messed with my Add-On management. The
WuWebControlClass was disabled. I enabled it this way:

In Tools,Manage Add-Ons... make sure your WuWebControlClass entry is listed
under the Enabled section. If it's under Disabled, find the radio button for
Enable, and enable it!. Fixed me up quick!

And where might one find "Tools, Manage, Add-Ons"?

Sorry. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools & you will see Manage Add
Ons.Click on that & it will open with" Add ons currently loaded in IE", in
the drop down menu. Click on that & select "add ons that have been used by
IE." I found that I had disabled the WUEebControlClass for some reason. When
I enabled it, I got the Windows Update page back. Hope this helps.

Hi

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=Osk#[email protected]

If that didn't work either, check that WuWebControlClass is enabled in
Internet Explorer:
