Windows\system\config\system corrupt or missing.

Recieved an unable to start Windows XP due to a corrupt or
missing Windows\system\config\system file on computer
bootup. It said to try to repair using setup CD. Any
Idea's as to what could cause this to happen,working fine
befor reboot. All updates from microsoft installed,plus
A/V programs. Thanks Jim
