Windows startup progress

Does anybody have a guide that tells what's going on at each stage of
the startup. For instance my system seems to linger when the startup
bar is stopped after "microso------". Then slightly later the display
is flipped into full bitmap mode. What about all the other steps?
 
Access Safe Mode and select bootup.log, then examine the boot.log, it may
help
