Win 2K startup problems after prog installs

I have a windows 2000 dell laptop that will not boot properly. It hangs on
the W2K startup screen with the progress bar about 75% done. When I boot in
safe mode there are quite a few on the services that are not started in the
event viewer. That is I suppose normal. I tried an in place upgrade/install
repair and to no avail. What can I do to walk through the startup and get
going again. Loading 22GB of programs is very painful ofcourse. Thanks for
any assistance.

Ok well the event viewer shows several services that were not started
because it says they were not called to start. Is this because it is in safe
mode? Also the User for the main login I use says Unknown Account. And the
IRQ's keep changing and USB and Networking are sharing IRQ 9 (five item 4
usb related and the networking. Where do I start to recover this mess? See
IRQ, driver and runing tasks info below

|I have a windows 2000 dell laptop that will not boot properly. It hangs on
| the W2K startup screen with the progress bar about 75% done. When I boot

| safe mode there are quite a few on the services that are not started in

You didn't tell us any history such as; new install? what was the last thing
installed? or any other possible pertinent info.

When you view the logged events in Event Viewer (double-click them in the
right-hand pane) in the upper right corner, third button down is a copy to
clipboard, then you can paste in the body of a reply message.

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') since last boot so we can see all of the event detail.

For the 'Unknown Account' issue what is the exact text of the error message
you receive? Possibly the profile is corrupt.

IRQ sharing is a normal occurrence in Windows 2000 and works very well.

You didn't tell us any history such as; new install? what was the last thing
installed? or any other possible pertinent info.

When you view the logged events in Event Viewer (double-click them in the
right-hand pane) in the upper right corner, third button down is a copy to
clipboard, then you can paste in the body of a reply message.

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') since last boot so we can see all of the event detail.

For the 'Unknown Account' issue what is the exact text of the error message
you receive? Possibly the profile is corrupt.

IRQ sharing is a normal occurrence in Windows 2000 and works very well.

moving on. Device Manager may reveal something. Error codes etc.

Well I found the DVD camera from Kodak was the last device installed I
removed it and it boot fine. I did do an earlier inplace upgrade and
reapplied SP4. What else should i do to bring it up to date and not cause
other problems?
