Windows stalls at startup

It gets through the loading screen and then stops and says "Windows had to
shutdown in order to not damage something" (something like that it was only
up for 1 second). And the only way to get back is to restart with last known
good settings.

I just installed the lastest updates and I'm wondering if this has something
to do with this?

Hi There,

The best way to find out what the issue was is to see an actual memory dump.
Go into your system properties, then advanced, then startup and recovery.
Uncheck Automatically restart and apply.

Now when your system crashes next time it might give us some more clues.

You may also want to do a good check of your system for viruses and spyware,
clean out your temp files, and perhaps have someone look at a hijackthis log
file for you.
