Windows slow to boot

A while ago I noticed Windows suddenly started taking about twice as long to
boot, but it was quite a long time after I installed SP2. The little bar on
the startup screen used to scroll smoothly and now it keeps stopping and
starting. I realise now I should have used System Restore as soon as I
noticed it, but I've installed and uninstalled a lot of stuff since then, so
I can't really. Does anyone know how to repair/improve the boot time? By the
way, I've already checked for viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, adware, etc.
Also I used Disk Cleanup and defragged my hard drive, but it's made no
difference.

rsvp
Thanks,
Darren

systeminternals.com has several tools to view processes that are running during the boot process.
