Windows shuts Down immediately after logon

When I log on to my dell laptop windows shuts down unexpectedly-immediately.
I was having pop up issues, and I found a virus, but now all I can find to
remedy the situation is to use the virus (norton) software to remove it and
repair, but I can not log on to the computer! it Shuts down immediately
(less than 60 seconds). How can I stop this issue. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kevin

Make sure NAV is set to delete all virus infected files.

Boot up to safe mode and run NAV. Dlete all infected files, then look in
Report section of NAV and delete all files in 'quarantine' and 'backup'.

You will not remove all virus infected files if you use only the NAV CD and
boot to it, you need to start up Windows [even if only in safe mode].

Dear BAR,
Wow thanks for the quick response, however, I failed to mention, that it
does the same in Safemode as well......but is this something you encountered
before? It doesn't even give me time to even see the icons on my desktop.....
