I have a DVR software that needs time to shut itself off before windows
automatically shuts it down when I go to shut down Windwos XP. Is there any
way to increase the tme that windows waits before automatically shutting down
programs itself? Sometimes the DVR software is able to close just before
windows runs of of time, but other times it runs out first.

Thanks for the help!

Hi geoff,
Yes it should be possible, using a registry tweak:

Go to Start | Run
type in regedit and click ok

In the left pane, find the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

in the right hand pane find the following value:

WaitToKillAppTimeout

Increase the value default is 20000 (20 seconds) and the value is in
milliseconds and is decimal

That was easy - Thanks!!!
