Windows Set-Up does not see keyboard

malam

I have a Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard and a Microsoft Comfort
Optical Mouse 3000. Both are wired and USB devices. However both are
not recognized during a Windows-XP setup or repair. I had a wireless
system prior to this and thought the problem was the wireless . I am
at a loss now - why is the Keyboard not recognized ? The indicator
light on the keyboard comes on, but none of the function keys work.
I had to use a PS2 keyboard to reinstall Windows.

I'm I missing a BIOS setting ?
Thanks.

Make sure in your Computer BIOS, that you have Support for USB Keyboard
and / or Mouse.

Thanks - I just checked my BIOS, but there is no option to enable a
USB Keyboard. There is a Legacy USB Support that I have on auto. In
the Boot Settings , there is a PS/2 Mouse support, Num-Lock 'ON' and
Keyboard Typematic Rate. Also there is a setting for Power ON with
Keyboard.

Is the Keyboard considered to be a Legacy USB device ?

Hi malam,

Go back into Computer BIOS and check what choices there are for Legacy
USB Support. By the way, are we talking Compaq BIOS?

My newer computer has an option for both USB Keyboard and USB Mouse. My
Compaq Presario has an option for USB Legacy Keyboard Support.
