Windows repair function

I have mentioned in a previous post that I can not startup XP in any mode. I
made some floppy boot disks downloaded from Microsoft and followed the
instructions in Microsoft Article ID : 307545 . I got to this point:

copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system
copy c:\windows\repair\software c:\windows\system32\config\software
copy c:\windows\repair\sam c:\windows\system32\config\sam
copy c:\windows\repair\security c:\windows\system32\config\security
copy c:\windows\repair\default c:\windows\system32\config\default

In each case it said file "not found". How could that be? What did I do
wrong?

Anyway, after getting to this point, when I tried to reboot, the system now
tells me I have a missing or corrupt config/sys file, which is a new error
message. When I tried to boot in windows before, I just got a blank screen.
Must be progress!!!

Anyway, how could the repair disk not have those files?

I got an original retail version of a windows XP CD and followed the advice
Michael Solomon has posted here numerous times and the advice on the website
you reference. Both say to skip the first R option and accept the license
agreement hitting F8. Well, when i hit F8 nothing happens. SHould I try
this not skipping the first R option?
