Corrupt or missing file \windows\system32\config\system

Guest

I am using the repair console, Typing the second line listed on microsoft
support document 307545, copy c:\windows\system32\config\system..... I get
the message "The file could not be copied."
Yeah, that makes sense, since that is the file that is missing or corrupt.

Question: Do I just keep on typing in the rest of the lines in the fix, or
am I wasting my time?

Thanks,

Try typing the 1st line as the article outlines, then as it also states "type
the
following lines, pressing ENTER after each" .....Fairly simple guide..

The first section (copy. ... .bak) just creates backups of files. It is not
neccessary. You can skip that. Runt he delete and copy commands after the delete lines.

Good Luck, Ayush.

I am using the repair console. I followed all of the directions but when I
restart I get an error message: Windows could not open because
\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt. Does anyone know how
to fix this problem?

Thanks.

I completed all of the steps in step 1 but when I restart I still get the
same message: corrupt or missing file \windows\system32\config\system. So I
can't get to Step 2. What can I do?
