windows really lagging

I have a p4 2.8 ghz with 1gb of ram, but yet my system is really lagging.
Especially if kazaa or if i am copying files from one hard drive to another.
does anyone know why this would be caused? i reinstalled xp for this new
motherboard recently, and it has been acting this way since.

my video card is the only OLD piece of hardware, with the exception of my
LAN card. my video card is a riva tnt2 ultra with 32mb of ram. my LAN card
is a 3com Fast etherlink III 10/100 PCI

any ideas?

could be your AV software or could be spyware you installed along with
Kazaa!

if i open an image in acdsee or anything else for that matter, if i have
winamp running at the time, winamp starts skipping horribly and my mouse
starts lagging and i dont know why

is it a ram problem or video problem?
