Windows XP windows re install

I have attemted to format my disk and reinstall win xp. I have a Sata drive and win xp does not recognise it. It seems to want to set up a disc array but I only have one hard disk. I originally had a floppy to cure this when I first built this computer but no longer have it. Help !
