Everytime I open it.
I have windows service pack 2 downloaded.
I've tried uninstalling it, but I don't have the windows xp CD.
It's all very annoying, because I really really want to use it, but It'll
show the "WMM has encountered a problem" if I try to do anything!
Someone has suggested doing system restore, but windows movie maker has been
on my computer since i got it. I'm a beginner, help?

John, I made a very large movie last October, 2008, no problem. Now trying to
make another and it's freezing, usually when I try to delete a photo from the
timeline. There are no codecs in the compatability window. I've renamed all
the ones you suggested that I could find and set the acceleration as low as
it will go. I'm running XP PRO 2002 SP3, 512 MB RAM, 46 GB available; and
movie maker Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236: Service Pack 3,
2.1.4026.
Any other ideas?? I'm truly desperate! Thanks! Nancy

You have limited system resources. Try closing
every program you can before launching Movie
Maker. Disable your internet connection and
disable your virus scanner.

Also you could try converting your photos to the
..bmp format before importing..it might work better
than .jpg.

Are you using video clips also or just still shots?
If the project is only still shots and less than 300...
I would suggest that you try PhotoStory 3.
