Windows movie Maker Codec problem!!

Hey, I'm getting an error any time I try to import any video! This happens
with every video, regardless of format!! It says:

(the directory of the file) cannot be imported because the codec required to
play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to
download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and
then try to import the file again.

This never used to happen! This is somthing that started happening recently,
can anyone help!?!?

Have you installed / uninstalled / updated
anything recently that may be the cause
of this issue? Have you tried doing a system
restore to a time before this occurred?
