Windows Messenger Sign In

I've setup Windows Messenger to sign in automatically when Windows starts .
.. . but it does not do it. Is there a registry entry that I could check or
something else I can do to force it to sign in automatically?

open control panel go to admin tools and open up services look down the list
and you should see windows messenger look to see if it's listed as auto
starting, if not highlight and change to auto. Personally I wouldn't use
windows messenger too many holes, For what it's worth I use yahoo messenger,
can't say if one is better than the other, but it's what I use

The Messenger service in a Windows OS is not the same as Windows
Messenger, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Messenger, and has nothing to do with
Instant Messaging. What you told the OP to do was disable the Messenger
service - it displays in the services console as Messenger, not windows
messenger.

The Messenger service was originally intended for sending messages to
users across a network by the sys admin.

For most people the Messenger service is not needed, but I don't
recommend turning it off. Yes, it is a vehicle for pop ups, adware and
other malware, but it actually performs a good function in letting you
know when the system is not secure If a firewall is in place and good
anti-malware programs are used, then you won't have problems. By
keeping it on it will alert you if there is a problem by the presence of
pop ups in a window titled Messenger Service.

The OP's problem has nothing to do with the Messenger service in windows
and whether it's enabled or not.
