Windows Messenger closes when I minimize it to the system tray

Craig Turner

I am currently using Windows Messenger 4.7 (4.7.2009),
with windows XP professional. After clearing the blaster
virus off of my pc, I cannot get windows messenger to
stay open unless I keep the window open or minimized.
Normally, when you click the close button in the top left
hand corner it minimizes to the notification area next to
the clock. However, since clearing the blaster virus off
of my pc, and applying the patch, when I click the close
button, it quits as though I have clicked file, then
close. I have reinstalled messenger, but this has not
fixed the problem. Does anyone know what is causing this
problem, and if so, how do I fix it? P.S. I am also
running MSN Messenger 6.0, and this runs perfectly.

Hi Craig
In options go to preferences and tick the box allow this program to run in
the background
