I want to copy a few tracks froma number of audio Cds, just so I can play a
selection while I'm at the PC. When WMP switches to the "copy cd" screen,
it's always in "copy CD mode", and it immediately starts copying the first
track.

This means I have to click the "stop copy" button before I can make my
selection.

Is there any way I can make it open and wait?

You need Roxio or Nero to customize MP3 or music CD's.
Didn't you get a "burner" program with your PC/CD burner?

Yes, I got nero....maybe I didn't make it clear....I only want the tracks on
the PC, not on another CD (yet)

.
You should be able to use your burner program (Nero) to
convert any tracks on a music CD to system-readable files.
I don't have Nero, but I have Roxio, and with that, I put
the CD in, and it lists all of the tracks on it, and lets
me manually choose which one (s) I want to convert.

Hope this helps some. : )
