Windows Media Player

A friend updated media player to version 9. Since then she gets error
message C00D11B0 which states

Windows Media Player cannot perform the requested action. You might
encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:
a.. The server is busy. Try again later.
b.. Your computer does not have sufficient resources, such as enough free
memory or a fast enough processor. Quit other programs, and then try again.
If the problem persists, you might need to upgrade your computer.
Both reasons are ridiculous as the computer is new and loaded and it's on a
cable hookup.

She would just like to uninstall the new version. Can she just delete media
player and re-install or can she back out the update? Perhaps there is a
correction.

the message on the update is you can not uninstall once you
have installed it.
so you are stuck untill it corrects itself. but go to
tools, options, network, in the media player and see that
the media player is using the browser to access the web
(http).and also in ,tools, options ,player ,uncheck allow
sites to uniqly identify my player (spyware).

That statement is everything but true. System Restore is used to uninstall
Windows Media Player 9 Series. This is clearly documented in the Windows
Media Homepage. Microsoft works closely with the FTC to ensure that your
privacy is respected. Disabling GUID would in no way change anything
relating to this problem or any other problem with Windows Media Player 9.

Diana, Could you provide a link to the content you are having problems with?
A cable internet connection does not affect the speed of your PC, nor does
it impact the resource. A server being busy is nothing you can fix, it also
doesn't matter what kind of internet connection you have.

I just heard from her. She did a system restore and is back to v8 and the
message has disappeared.

Thanks
