Windows Media Player in IE6

I have a problem with streaming media in IE6. I have WMP v9 installed on my
PC, previously when i clicked on a windows media player clip on the internet
it opened on the page with no problem. After re-installing IE6 it now opens
with 'Windows Media Player Control Version 6.4.09' which will not play
video, only audio.
How do i get it back?
