Windows Media Player - Can't copy CDs

I had no problem copying CDs to my hard drive with both
Media Player and RealPlayer. Now I am unable to copy a
CD with either system. I get an error message in Media
Player: "Windows Media Player has encounterd an unknown
error". Although I don't think it has any bearing on
this problem, I did recently upgrade to version 9 of
Media Player. I have Restored the System to before the
upgrade.
